I got to meet Mark Rivera, long-time saxophonist of the Billy Joel Band, this month! Mark stopped by Platte County High School (where I teach) to talk to the kids about music before his performance at Kauffman Stadium.
I started playing in a Billy Joel Band cover group about a year ago called “Faux Piano Man” — the piano player’s last name is Fopeano. It has been really fun to learn all of the reed solos, including those by Mark and one featuring the great Phil Woods.
